Charlottesville is located in Central Virginia about 120 miles southwest of Washington, DC and 60 miles west of Richmond, VA. If you’re coming to LOOK3 for the first time, you should know that Charlottesville is not the same as Charleston, SC, Charleston, WV, or Charlotte, NC. We forgive you if you make that mistake! All major modes of transportation serve the Charlottesville area — including planes, trains, buses, and of course, personal vehicles. All events at LOOK3 are located along the Charlottesville Downtown Mall and are within walking distance. So once you get to the Festival, you won’t need to get in and out of your car each day to enjoy LOOK3 programs. There is a free trolley service provided by the City of Charlottesville that loops from the downtown area to the University of Virginia Grounds.

Getting to LOOK3

Driving

Charlottesville is 2 hours south of Washington, D.C. and 1 hour west of Richmond, VA. If you are driving to Charlottesville for LOOK3, please consider carpooling and/or posting on this Facebook Rideshare event or the Craigslist rideshare if you have extra passenger space available.

LOOK3 Registration is located at 100 5th St, NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Parking is easily available at the Market St parking garage or the Water St parking garage.
Flying

Charlottesville Airport is the most convenient and closest airport to downtown Charlottesville. Taxi service is about $20 and a 20 minute ride. Because of Charlottesville’s proximity to Washington, D.C.(120 miles) and Richmond, VA (60 miles), finding a reasonable flight shouldn’t be too difficult. To find the best airfare options, we recommend Kayak. Nearby Airports: CHO (Charlottesville), RIC (Richmond), DCA (D.C.), IAD (D.C.)
Bus & Train

For travel between Charlottesville and New York City, consider the upscale deluxe bus service The Starlight Express. The price is $49.95 one way which includes wifi, refreshments, and non-stop service. For travel to Greyhound from all locations, visit Greyhound Bus Lines. For travel by train, please visit the Amtrak website. The Charlottesville Amtrak station is located on West Main Street, 1/2 mile from the Downtown Mall.

Special UVA Dorm Housing Option

The Hereford College Residence Area on the beautiful University of Virginia campus will be available to LOOK3 attendees, and is located 3 miles from the downtown area where all Festival events will be held. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and furnished with a bed and linens. All beds are extra-long twin size. Private bathrooms are not provided.
