I'd like to show my work at the Community Print Share on Monday, June 13th. How do I reserve a space?

Photographers are invited to showcase five of their finest photographs to display for the Charlottesville community to enjoy. Whether you present your work or just want to spend an evening seeing the work of other local artists - join us for this exciting kick-off to LOOK3 2016!

Do I need to reserve a seat to attend the PDN Panel on Tuesday, June 14th?

No! This is a free event, open to the public. There is no need to register beforehand or purchase a ticket. Simply show up, take your seat, and enjoy the panel discussion! It is located at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center.  Doors will open at 7:00 pm for this event

Do I need to reserve a seat for the Friday Projections at The Pavilion?

No! This is a free event, open to the public. Seats are filled on a first come, first serve basis. There will be concession stands and standing space in the back. Showtime starts at 9:00 pm! 

How do I reserve a table for the Pop-Up Book Fair?

Anyone is welcome to register for a table at the Pop-Up Book Fair, but space is limit & filled on a first come, first serve basis! To reserve a space, email

Each of the EDU Seminar Days covers a unique topic. Which day is right for me?

This year, LOOK3 is offering two full days of education programming on Wednesday, June 15th and Thursday, June 16th.  

The Wednesday, June 15th  "Creativity Meets Technology" Seminar Day is created to provide a survey of contemporary technology, social media, publishing, sharing and delivery platforms that are essential tools for artists to create, collaborate produce and share their work. Topics include balancing content/audience, generating media opportunities, atypical publishing platforms, impacting change through social media, and measuring audience engagement today. The Thursday, June 16th  "Artists Meet Your Market" half-day seminar offers photographers a window to appreciative audiences in such markets as fine art, editorial, advertising, licensing rights and more. Observe a live “pitch” of these clients intended to make a strong first impression in a business meeting. Presenters include: Molly Roberts, Chief Photography Editor, Smithsonian Magazine; Catherine Edelman, Edelman Gallery (Chicago) and President, AIPAD; Denise Wolff, Editor, Aperture Books; Ed O'Keefe, VP CNNMoney and CNN Politics; Justin Stailey, FUJIFILM, and more.

The second half of the day is the LOOK3 PITCH. Make sure to apply by May 23rd! 

What is the LOOK3 PITCH, how do I apply, and what's the deadline?

LOOK3 PITCH is a new form of Portfolio Reviews where the Reviewers select the photographers they would like to have a meeting with based on applicant’s written application, the quality of the work submitted and how relevant the artist’s work is to their particular market.

Can I purchase a combined pass to attend both Seminars, including LOOK3 PITCH?

We offer a General / Student Pass + EDU Package that includes both EDU Seminar Days, plus admission to the remaining Festival events beginning Wednesday, June 15th. 

EDU (June 15 & 16) + Artist Talks General Pass (June 15, 16, 17, 18) - $365
Student EDU (June 15 & 16) + Artist Talks General Pass (June 15, 16, 17, 18) - $250

Can I purchase a single ticket to either Seminar One or Seminar Two?

If you only want to attend only one of the EDU Seminar Days, you can purchase single day passes!

Where do I register and pick up my Pass?

Did you purchase a EDU Single Pass?

Beginning on June 13th, you can sign into registration at The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center (233 4th Street Northwest Charlottesville, VA). If you purchased a Student or General Festival Pass separately, you will be able to pick this up at the same time you sign into registration for EDU.
Registration will open 30 min. before each event. 

Did you purchase a Festival + EDU Package?

Beginning on June 13th, you can sign into registration and pick up your Festival + EDU Pass at The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center (233 4th Street Northwest Charlottesville, VA). Registration will open 30 minutes before each event. 

Did you purchase a Student / General / BIG LOVE Pass?

Pick up Passes & Tickets at LOOK3 Registration starting on Wednesday, June 15th at 2:00 pm at Old Metropolitan Hall (101 E. Main Street) on the Downtown Mall. More information about registration here.

** Registration will be moved to the Paramount Theater (215 E Main S) ONE HOUR BEFORE each show. 

What are the different types of Festival Passes I can choose from?

All Festival Passes can be purchased online here.

We highly suggest the LOOK3 Pass + EDU PackageThis allows you to get the most out of LOOK3 & attend both EDU Seminar Days, all eleven artist talks at the Paramount Theater, Saturday evening projections at the IX (Friday evening projections at the Pavilion is free and open to the public), and the Festival Final Party. Price ranges from $250 - $365. 

We also offer a GENERAL / STUDENT Pass for all Festival events excluding EDU. This includes all eleven artist talks at the Paramount Theater, Saturday evening projections at the IX, and the Festival Final Party. Price ranges from $110 - $170. 

Feeling the love? Purchase the BIG LOVE PASS that includes admission to all EDU / Festival events. Additionally, gain access to a special artist-led exhibition tour, an invitation to meet featured photographers at the private Big Love Artist Reception, preferred seating at all artist talks & projections, and a tax-deductible donation of $300 to the LOOK3 festival. Price is fixed at $500. 

How do I purchase an individual pass for the Saturday Evening Projection and Closing Party?

Tickets for the Saturday Evening Projection and Festival Closing Party will be available to purchase in advance online at - visit the direct link here to purchase. 
Tickets will also be available at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime (8:30PM).
All individual tickets to this event are priced at $25. 

Can I buy single tickets for the artist talks at the Paramount?

Yes! Starting on May 25th, single tickets to the Artist Talks will be on sale at 

What happens if I arrive late to one of the artist talks?

Please do your best to arrive minimum 15 minutes early to all artist talks! Beginning 15 minutes before every talk we will sell remaining seats to standbys. If you arrive late and have a pass, we cannot guarantee you a seat, but we will allow you to stand in the back of the theater and enjoy the talk until there is a break and you can find a seat if any are available. 


How do I get to Charlottesville?

Charlottesville is centrally located in Virginia, and is easily accessible whether you are traveling by car, plane, train, or bus. Please visit our "Plan Your Visit" page for specific recommendations for each travel means. 

What are the lodging options that are within walking distance to the Downtown Mall?

The Omni Charlottesville Hotel, the South Street Inn, The Inn at 400 West High, and The Inn at Court Square are all within walking distance of the Festival.  

Guesthouses offers unique accommodations in private homes, cottages, and houses in the Charlottesville area and has offerings nearby the Historic Downtown Mall. 

Additionally, The Hampton Inn and Suites Charlottesville is approximately 15 minutes walking distance from the Downtown Mall and is also located on the Free Trolley route that runs directly to the Historic Downtown Mall. 

What if all the hotels are sold out?

There is plenty of housing around the Downtown Mall and near UVA. We encourage you to look on Airbnb Charlottesville and VRBO for various options. We have even created a SPECIAL MAP just for you so you can see how far the walk is to the Downtown Mall from where you are staying! Worried about how you will get to the festival if you stay near UVA? Don't! There is a free trolley that runs every hour from UVA and drops you off right on the Downtown Mall, or if it is a beautiful day, you can walk downtown in approximately 30 minutes!

Are there camping sites nearby?

Yes! There is a Charlottesville KOA located 10 miles south of downtown Charlottesville on Red Hill Road (Route 708) right off of State Route 20. More information can be found on their website.


Do I need a car to get to Festival events?

No! All LOOK3 Events are located along Charlottesville’s historic pedestrian corridor known as the Downtown Mall or at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, and are all within walking distance of one another.

What are the public transportation offerings in Charlottesville?

The Downtown Pedestrian Mall is walkable from many neighborhoods and hotels in Charlottesville, and is located 2 miles from the University of Virginia.

Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) provides bus service to the greater Charlottesville area. In addition to traditional bus, CAT also offers a free historic style trolley which runs in a loop from the Downtown Mall to the University of Virginia, with stops near the Amtrak and Greyhound stations.

What are the cab services available in Charlottesville?

Yellow Cab of Charlottesville can be found online here or reached by phone at (434) 295-4131.

In the evenings, all of the cabs line up on the downtown mall at the 2nd street SW crossing, right next to the Violet Crown Theater.
