LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph

LOOK3 is the TRUTH

A final post before we at Corbis hand the blog back over to the kind folks at LOOK3. It was truly an honor! Thank you for letting us share a part of your world.

As a preface to the final INsight Conversation on Saturday night, the Paramount was treated to a video from select truth’s being told at the TRUTH booth exhibit. The responses were strong and the editing was fantastic. Here are a few of the highlights.

  • THE TRUTH IS — “I’m scared of my dad. I love him, but he really scares me, I just don’t know why.“
  • THE TRUTH IS — “My mom drives me crazy”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I don’t want to disappoint my parents. I don’t want them to compare me to other people. I don’t want to lie to my parents about someone that they won’t accept. And I would do anything to make them happy.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I love my children unconditionally. I’m sad, almost every hour of every day, thinking about that they’re getting older. But I’m also happy every hour of every day that they’re with me and that they were born. It’s like having your heart walking around outside of you all the time.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “Love. There isn’t anything more amazing than the love that a mother has for her child” (crying baby with a pacifier next to her)
  • THE TRUTH IS — “The truth!”  (says a small boy)
  • THE TRUTH IS — “…everything that you say to someone when you love them.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “…that there is no tree foolish enough to fight against its branches.” (Camille Seaman)
  • THE TRUTH IS — “…that Donna Ferrato signed my chest tonight.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — (a young man and woman begin to make out)
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I came here to find the truth, not to give the truth… I guess I’m in the wrong spot.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I’m not sure what the truth is. I’m not sure the truth even exists. The truth is kind of like God. Is there really a God? Is there really any truth? Certainly, photography pretends to be the truth. But then we manipulate the truth. So the truth is undefinable.”
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I love Nick Nichols” (Jean-François Leroy)
  • THE TRUTH IS — “I have a little soriasis on the tip of my nose. The truth is that I don’t really know anything. And that the longer I go through life the more I realize that I don’t know. I still continue to strive to find answers. Truth is, nobody really knows.”
