BD, the company that MaryAnne Golon dubbed as “the coolest company you never heard of” hosted a breakfast and talk with Eugene Richards this morning. Health is a fundamental aspect of our society, affecting gender issues, peace and equality, yet 10% of the people in the world consume 90% of healthcare, whilst the other 90% directly need access to the resource. BD truly believes in the power straightforward communication and supports photographers who document health conditions all across the globe.
This year’s feature was Eugene Richards who needs no introduction. He presented several bodies of work from malaria in Ethiopia, a kidney transplant Guatemala, mental disability in Mexico and children born with AIDS in Harlem. The delicate yet agonizing images were accompanied by text and music which helped underline the stories, bringing depth and understanding to galvanizing topics.
